Pinkies Mermaid Meat

2026, plaster, acrylic paint, styrofoam boxes, artificial ice

Geraghty’s colourful Mermaid Meat Series is seductive and repulsive, confronting viewers with human hands fused with fish bodies - caught in frozen gestures that feel both expressive and mute.  Arranged for purchase, the works adopt the language of display and consumption, inviting a kind of casual looking that quickly turns uneasy. By invoking the mermaid, the magical becomes commodified and disturbingly ordinary. This tension mirrors a broader discomfort - an awareness that something is not quite right, even as we continue to engage.
